Inside the Makalu AS is a series of internal steel springs and elastomers to minimize vibration resulting in far less stress on your hands elbows shoulder joints and ligaments than rigid trekking poles or walking sticks. Press and twist each pole to activate or deactivate the system to go spring-free on ascents and then opt for full cushioning on the gravity-aided trail descents. Follow the shaft all the way down and you'll find quality carbide Flextips that flex up to 30 degrees without adding structural stress to the pole shafts. Swap out the interchangeable baskets to suit the weather and terrain and you're ready to go in any season.
